Impact in Malawi

The village of Gwangwa, Malawi is home to a new One-Day Church. Prior to Maranatha’s arrival, a group of 60 members met regularly, but had no resources to build a church. As a result, their impact upon the surrounding community was minimal.

When Maranatha teams arrived to build a church, all the villagers flocked to the site. The village Headman joined the entire community in helping to raise the new church.

After the frame was completed, the village Headman contacted the congregation and encouraged them to mould bricks for the walls and pledged to provide firewood for burning the bricks.

Within three months of building the church, membership has increased from 60 to 107.

Maranatha has completed more than 600 One-Day Churches in Malawi. Many have been completed with brick walls by the members. Approximately 200 churches remain to be built.
