The Buildings are Preaching

Malawi
Nine months ago I visited Malawi and traveled to several sites where One-Day Churches were desired. One village sat right in the middle of tea plantations, surrounded all around by rolling hills of uniformly cut tea plants.

The Adventist congregation showed us the spot they’d procured for a new church and then we joined them next to the town grocery store in a half-open, half covered wood pole shed. They sang, they prayed, and they praised their God who is coming soon.

In August I returned to that town to see the newly built ODC. The members gathered quickly to tell how their church is full—420 people meet in and around the church each Sabbath. They are planning to build brick walls around the church in September.

Maranatha has completed 145 churches in Malawi. Some already have brick walls, some are underway, and many are planning to start building walls in September, to avoid the rainy season.
The leadership of the Adventist Church in Malawi asked me to specifically thank the donors who are making One-Day Churches possible in their country. Already, they are seeing baptisms as a result of the new churches. The president was very emphatic about the importance of the churches, “The buildings are preaching.”
